Sadie by tunewell

MeFi Music
As autumn arrives, it always gives me a feeling of glorious sad sentimentality, almost like a chemical reaction. Whether I actually have something to feel sentimental about or not, those chilly sun-filled days create a longing like a chemical reaction. This song is that feeling for me, when you can’t get back the past, but flounder to try. Guitar and vox recorded live with a single guitar overdub. lyrics:

Sadie why won’t you answer my letters?
I’ve been writing you for two years and a day
Lately I just fall behind waiting for that sun to shine
Now I’ll never see your face again.

Maybe if we meet again next summer
You’ll remember how things used to be
I’m still here in this old town
Running with that same old crowd
They keep asking when you’re coming home.

And it’s hard thing to say
When you want things your own way
It’s a hard way to go
To wake up and know that it’s behind you.

Sadie why won’t you pretend we’re younger?
And I’ll make it seem as true as yesterday.
I think we could talk awhile
Just pickup that phone and dial
I’ll be waiting on the other end.
