One of the year’s most-anticipated music video games, DJ Hero, spins onto shelves today, and as Rolling Stone previously reported, Eminem and Jay-Z are lending their names to the game’s Renegade Edition, which features a special turntable and a compilation of songs by Em and Jigga. As we learn in the above video, however, Eminem isn’t just endorsing DJ Hero — he’s kind of obsessed with it.

“The cool thing about DJ Hero is that the music is part of the video game itself,” Eminem said of the game. “As soon as I master it, it’s going to be fun, because then I’ll gonna get my ass in the studio and I’m gonna start learning how to scratch. And then at live shows, I’ll be my own DJ, run up in the booth, throw the record on, run down and rap.” As RS wrote this morning, Jay-Z told us he’s also been inspired by the game. “I think after a year with DJ Hero I’m gonna start DJing parties like Q-Tip and all them,” Jigga said. “Then I’m gonna find out who makes the most as a DJ. I’m gonna charge double. I’m gonna tour bar mitzvahs, weddings…”

And battle-ready Slim Shady is issuing a challenge to one of the game’s most noteworthy avatars. “I’m gonna be better at this game than Jazzy Jeff, by the way,” Eminem says. “And if ever he wants to come here and set up his turntables against me… give me a couple years, but, you know, I’m going to better than him at this game.”

The video for the remixed version of 3OH!3’s “Starstrukk,” featuring Katy Perry, premiered this morning over at MTV. In the clip, the Boulder, Colorado duo get lustily swarmed by women after they raid the coins in a wishing fountain before Perry joins the fun by showing up for the chorus. There’s homages to James Bond films and West Side Story — and, of course, Baywatch, the series that revolutionized slow-motion running. Plus, Perry get doused by rain during “Starstrukk” ’s new bridge.

As you might recall, Rolling Stone went behind the scenes on the 2008 Artist to Watch’s music video shoot of the original version of “Starstrukk,” That video also featured lots of running, but instead of people sprinting toward a fountain, the original video’s destination was a giant orgy filled with construction workers, scantily clad women and even a marching band.

“Katy did this ’cause we had, like, a million dollars,” 3OH!3’s Sean Foreman joked to MTV News. “No, Katy did this because we toured with Katy, we are good friends with Katy and we worked on the song together — we worked on the remix together.” This remixed version of the song will also appear in the upcoming film When In Rome, MTV reports. The band also recently test drove a new Mitsubishi i-MiEV Electric for RS.

As album sales soften and the industry turns to alternate ways to get music to fans, the battle between the big music video games has become increasingly heated, and new sales figures indicate The Beatles: Rock Band has a bit of an edge on Guitar Hero 5. According to Billboard, The Beatles: Rock Band sold 595,000 copies following its September 9th release, while GH5 moved 499,000 units since it hit stores on September 1st. In all, both games help fuel a revenue increase of 72 percent for music video games compared to September 2008.

Guitar Hero 5 kept pace with the opening month sales of its predecessor Guitar Hero: World Tour, which sold 534,000 copies last year, Billboard reports. However, the Beatles helped push MTV Games to new highs, as TB:RB more than doubled the 238,000 units of Rock Band 2 that were purchased in its first month. The Beatles: Rock Band, which was only outsold by Halo 3 and Madden ‘10 last month, came in second in overall revenue due to its higher price tag and all the add-on replica instruments that were available either separately or as a deluxe package.

As Rolling Stone reported yesterday, The Beatles: Rock Band is set to get a bump starting today when the remaining tracks from Abbey Road become available for download. Additionally, next month the rest of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band will become available, followed by Rubber Soul in December. LEGO Rock Band, DJ Hero, Band Hero and Guitar Hero: Van Halen should also help boost revenues as all due by year’s end.

Eminem’s “Taking My Ball,” the new track featured on Slim Shady’s DJ Hero Renegade greatest-hits compilation, leaked October 16th after making its debut on Eminem’s Sirius satellite radio station Shade45. As Rolling Stone reported, “Taking My Ball” is a leftover from the Relapse sessions, and it’s essentially a less controversial version of that album’s scathing celeb-basher “We Made You.” The song was cut in 2008, yet on “Taking My Ball” Eminem makes stale pop culture references to Tara Reid, Mischa Barton and feeding Rosie O’Donnell McDonald’s while watching The Sopranos. Listen to it over at Nah Right.

While no firm details regarding Relapse 2 have been announced yet, it seems unlikely that “Taking My Ball” will appear on the Eminem’s sequel to his May 2009 album. Em had previously told his Shade45 that Relapse 2 will be more “emotionally driven” than its predecessor, and “Taking the Ball” sports the immature, antagonist tone of Relapse’s non-serial-killing, non-drug-addled lighter side.

As RS reported, “Taking My Ball” is the lone unreleased track off the DJ Hero Renegade comp, a collection of deep album cuts and rarities that will accompany the Renegade Edition of the upcoming DJ Hero music video game. Jay-Z’s own Renegade collection, more of a greatest hits comp than a scattering of obscure tracks, will also be included with the special version of the game.

Adam Lambert’s first post-Idol single “Time for Miracles” made its unexpected full debut this weekend after it reportedly became available prematurely on the iTunes Store in Italy. As Rolling Stone previously reported, “Time for Miracles” features in upcoming disaster film 2012 and its soundtrack, and the song’s music video was set to premiere before screenings of Michael Jackson’s This Is It documentary starting October 27th. According to Amazon.com, October 27th is also the day the song becomes available for download in the States, but you can take a listen to “Time for Miracles” on YouTube.

“We wanted to match how epic the film is. We wanted to reach out and grab people by the heart,” Lambert said of “Time for Miracles.” On the track, Lambert proves how flexible his pipes truly are, effortlessly shifting from heartfelt, Ryan Adams-esque verses — complete with what sounds like a pedal steel guitar — to swelling arena-rock chorus. Throughout, Lambert’s incredible voice, which moved Queen’s Brian May “to jelly” when he heard the song this summer, shines through. May also predicted the song would be a “Number One smash.”

The song was produced by Rob Cavallo, who also worked on Lambert’s upcoming debut album, out November 23rd (Amazon says the album’s release was pushed up one day from November 24th). Lambert is still hard at work on his LP, typing on his Twitter this weekend that he was in the studio with producer Dr. Luke (Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl,” Britney Spears’ “Circus.”) “This album is gonna be Siiiiiiiiiiiick,” Lambert previously tweeted.
