Both Google and Facebook are reportedly planning to beef up their music features by allowing users to find and stream music more easily on their services, the New York Times reports. According to sources who have been invited to a Google event next week at Los Angeles’ Capitol Building, the search engine giant is expected to reveal “a more efficient way” of finding, streaming and learning about music, which will reportedly involve Google linking up with music sites like Lala, iLike and Imeem.

Google has not aligned itself with any of the major labels as of yet, the NYT reports, but will respond to searches for songs by presenting a 30-second stream — or in some cases, a full track — powered by its partners. Essentially, it’s a shortcut for users who may go directly to YouTube or the iTunes music store to be able to search and listen to music without paying for it.

Facebook is developing the option for users to send songs as a gift to friends, the NYT writes. As it stands now, Facebook users can send virtual birthday cakes and dogs and other tiny graphics for a small fee to other Facebookers. However, after a deal with Lala, for 10 cents, users will be able to send a song stream from the music service to other friends on Facebook. For a dollar, the song can be downloaded and imported into iTunes or other music players.

Here’s one for fans of the late, great Unsolved Mysteries (and the still-crankin’, not quite as great Ghost Hunters): A photograph taken in 1997 at the French cemetery where Doors frontman Jim Morrison is buried features a ghostly apparition that appears to be Morrison. Are you with us? We may lose you here: the photo has been deemed authentic, the U.K.’s Daily Express reports (via Spinner). The snapshot shows rock historian Brett Meisner standing next to Morrison’s grave at the Pere Lachaise cemetery, and in the background, there’s a white figure with its arms seemingly outstretched. Apparently, Morrison did break on through to the other side.

The Doors’ lasting legacy: photos.

The ghostly image went unnoticed by Meisner until 2002, when he spotted the strange blur and had the photo analyzed. In a book called Ghosts Caught on Film 2: Photographs of the Unexplained, researchers say the photo was in no way manipulated, and also rule out any possibility that it’s merely a trick of the light. The image itself is “unexplainable,” researchers said.

Meisner says now that he regrets going to the Pere Lachaise cemetery because he’s been plagued by eerie events ever since. Meisner tells the Daily Express that his marriage broke down and a close friend died of a drug overdose, and now he’s haunted by people who approach him to say that Morrison’s ghost is haunting them. “At first it was sort of interesting to see how many people felt a spiritual bond with Jim and the photo, but now the whole vibe seems negative,” Meisner said.

As anyone who read one of the many books on Morrison or saw Oliver Stone’s The Doors would tell you, Morrison believed he encountered the ghost of a Native American after witnessing a car accident in his youth in an incident that deeply impacted the singer. In fact, the lyrics to “Peace Frog” feature the lines, “Indians scattered on dawn’s highway bleeding, ghosts crowd the young child’s fragile eggshell mind,” which was Morrison’s account of the encounter. So it’s fitting that nearly three decades after his death, Morrison would appear as a specter in a photograph.

OK, OK, there’s absolutely no way to prove whether Morrison’s ghost is actually traipsing around his grave site, but we predict the Lizard King’s resting place is about to get a lot more visitors in the next few months.

Leona Lewis was reportedly punched in the side of the head during a book signing today in London, Yahoo! U.K. reports. Lewis was at Piccadilly Circus to sign copies of her autobiography Dreams when, 90 minutes in, “a guy came up and punched her to the side of the head,” Lewis’ spokesperson said. Initial reports indicated Lewis was slapped, but her spokesperson, who witnessed the attack, said the altercation was more severe than that. According to witnesses at the signing, the incident was “unprovoked,” with the suspect reportedly approaching Lewis to have his book signed, and after she looked up following the signing, the suspect punched her.

Police were quickly called to the scene and arrested an unnamed man “following reports of an assault against a female.” Witnesses tell the BBC that the suspect was “laughing” while security wrestled him down following the incident. Lewis, who suffered bruising on the side of her head, was so “shaken” by the incident that she was forced to cancel the remainder of the signing. Thankfully, she did not require hospital care, but she did cancel a BBC appearance scheduled for later that day.

Lewis recently performed as part of VH1’s Divas special in New York. See photos from the event here.

Refunds are available at point of purchase, and the new slate of dates is after the jump.

Over the past few days, Williams’ Twitter has been blowing up with reports on her sore throat. “Naked Gun and chicken noodle soup,” she reported on September 30th. “PS, I have never felt more support nor have I been more thankful for our fans.
