Two and a half years after this, here’s another mashup made for fun: “Single Ladies” vs “I want candy.” Make of it what you will; one was running through my head, then suddenly the other one was, so I put two and two together (then did it again with Garageband after Audacity crashed and took out the first attempt.)

For anyone who wants to know: tempo for Beyoncé is +5.29%, -6.5% for Annabelle Lwin and friends, and both retain the original pitch.

I would have used the title “I want single ladies”, but I didn’t want this to go straight to MetaTalk.

Nothing says “Happy 50th birthday” to your first musical hero like completely destroying one of his best songs! This version of an Alfred Yankovic original includes the debut of Pheatherwäit’s “brand new” (read: found by the dumpster in the original box) Casio Concertmate 450, and features what I believe to simultaneously be the most awesome and the worst accordion solo, of all time–past, present, and future–at 10:55. Apart from that and the vocals, it was an all Casio party!

Sadly, the low bitrate required to fit the file size limit actually makes it sound better.

This is a wicked rough, one take demo of one of the seven songs I will be recording with a full band for my EP. I would love to hear about what you think. I actually posted the original version of this song quite a while back. It’s since been changed relatively radically — the chorus fleshed out, half of a verse removed, a bridge added.

I recorded this all very quickly and without a mind to making them sound pretty. These songs have been arranged, and I will have a second guitarist, keys, a bassist, a drummer, violin, a backup singer — horns if I want ‘em. Pretty much any instrument I’d like to have I can have. My producer and I have plans, but I’d love to hear what you think. What would you add? What would you change?

I have some more I’d like to post for feedback.
